And until today I haven’t regretted that! My diving career started in the Netherlands, at Onderwater Sport Club Dordrecht (OSCD) were I started by accomplishing my 1st NOB Star. Once I arrived here, I continued to complete courses at the coziest diving school on Curaçao: Dive Center Aquarius! After renting some tanks for a few free-dives it turned out to be a fun place to be. It was time for a crossover to IDD with the Advanced course. Very different from NOB, but very interesting. Interesting enough to continue with a Nitrox course and the Rescue course.
After that it was quiet for a while; as I stuck to free diving, just bubbling around. Until mid 2007. I had plans to quit my job and started thinking about what I wanted to do. Traveling is still high on the list. While surfing the internet at a local Pub, I ran into Erik and Esther, who happened to go for a bite to eat. “Hi Eef, what ya doing?” “Well, just looking around a bit, ‘cause I want to do something different.” “What?” “Don’t know yet, let’s see what’s out there” “Well, why don’t you come and work for us?” “Sure, sounds like fun!” Cool, because this was a very good reason to continue the courses, and after work I started studying. A lot. Doing the practice in between, on days-off and in every minute of free time. All in all very tiresome… days from 7.30 AM. until 10.30 pm, but it was worth it! Finally I could start working for Esther and Erik. For the moment I’m not planning on doing anything else, let alone leave! I hope to see you all, so we can bubble around together, looking for seahorses, trumpet fish, trunk fish and many, many more!
